The festive and joyful character of the people of Torre del Mar is evident throughout the year, but is at its most important during the popular fiestas of its patron saints Santiago and Santa Ana, which are celebrated at the end of July with a large and lively participation of both Torreños and their unconditional visitors. Also worthy of note is the traditional and multitudinous pilgrimage, as well as the seafaring procession in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, which, given the seafaring character of Torre del Mar, is attended by a large number of boats. With the arrival of the summer solstice, Torre del Mar and its people are renewed with the celebration of the night of San Juan, in which, according to tradition, the burning of "Júas" and the washing of the face at midnight in the Mediterranean waters, bring a year of prosperity and well-being as well as greater beauty.
